Will the REAL me please show myself?

Why do we need to eat EVERY day?  Don’t get me wrong.  I love to eat.  I’m good at it.  A little too good.  But cooking?  Now there’s a problem.  I have to come up with something different and appetizing every day?  I actually enjoy cooking….  for company, for parties and special occasions.  But every single bleeping day of our very very long lives?  Not so much.  So occasionally, okay most days, (stop shaking your head, mom) I revert to some very tasty nutritiously-deficient snacks, (or ‘nacks as Tot calls them) – I think I may have referred to some of these in a previous blog entry.   Which means that despite the rrrrippling muscles I’ve developed through my regular flapping in the pool every morning, I have a nice soft protective layer of swiss rolls, cheez-its, peanut butter cups, cookie dough, brownie mix and untold other goodies obscuring those rippling muscles.  They’re under there somewhere, they’re just going incognito.  So I’ve decided it’s time to let them out of the proverbial closet.  I can’t just go cold turkey on my cheez-its.  Nature abhors a vacuum, so I need replacement ‘nacks.  I was at the store this evening and decided on a brilliant strategy.  It’s time to start drinking!!  Tea, that is…, herbal tea.  I’m currently enjoying a lovely cup of apple chamomile tea.  I also bought a few zingers, and pear tea, which I’m hoping is vaguely reminiscent of pear cider.  If I can fill up on tea, I won’t be so tempted to empty the cupboards before I head to bed, right?   I’ll keep you posted on the unveiling of my six-pack abs.  They should be out by Monday…
